Jan Huyser was born in the Netherlands. He is a graduate of the Royal Dutch Military Academy and served for nine years in the Dutch Army. In 1953 the Dutch government sent Jan to a Motor Officer’s Course at Ft. Knox, KY. It was then that Jan decided that the United States was in his future. On his way back to the Netherlands, he met his future wife Bernice who is from New Jersey. They were married in the Netherlands in 1955 and moved permanently to the US in 1956 where in 1957 Jan was commissioned into the U.S. Army. After serving 20 years in the Army, Jan and his family retired to Niceville.

Jan and Bernice reside in Windward at Bluewater Bay in Niceville. They have three daughters, four granddaughters and three grandsons who live in both Florida and Michigan.

Jan has been in real estate since 1979 and is a very active member of the Board of REALTORS serving on various committees. Jan is a former president of the Fort Walton Beach Board of Realtors (now the Emerald Coast Association of REALTORS) in 1988 and a former chairman of the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) committee for five years. In 1982 Jan was the Emerald Coast Association REALTOR of the year for Niceville. Jan is also a member of the Five Million-Dollar Club (over five million dollars of transactions in a year). Jan held the Emerald Coast Association REALTOR of the year in 1992 and Niceville area REALTOR of the year in 1996 and in 2000. Jan is currently serving a three year elected term as Director of the Niceville Chapter of the Emerald Coast Association of Realtors.

Jan is a founding partner of Carriage Hills Realty, Inc. which was established in 1982 and became a licensed broker that same year. Jan has over 21 years of professional experience in all phases of real estate such as buying, selling, financing and new home construction. Jan is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and holds the prestigious national designation of Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI).
